The Libertas Guide focuses on Dubrovnik, but Croatia's Adriatic coast has a broader cultural calendar that rewards exploration. This page covers the main festivals and venues beyond Dubrovnik.
Split Summer Festival
The Split Summer Festival, held from mid-July through August, uses the Peristyle of Diocletian's Palace as its main outdoor opera stage. Split is approximately 220 kilometres northwest of Dubrovnik by coastal road (or 3.5 hours by catamaran ferry).
Pula Film Festival
The Pula Film Festival, held each July in the Roman amphitheatre of Pula in Istria, is Croatia's premier film event and one of the oldest film festivals in the world (founded 1954). The arena seats thousands and screenings are held after dark under open sky.
Zadar Musical Evenings
Zadar's summer outdoor concert programme uses the historic Forum and the streets of the old town as performance spaces. The city is also famous for Nikola Bašić's public art installations — the Sea Organ and the Greeting to the Sun.
The Libertas Guide
The Libertas Guide is an independent editorial guide to cultural events in Dubrovnik. For events beyond Dubrovnik, check national listings and individual festival sites. We do not sell tickets.
